This is the role

As Project Engineer Friction you are responsible for the initiation, definition of application and product development activities in the field of friction materials in order to establish new business opportunities. You are taking ownership by translating application demands into functional (new) product specifications, developing these products accordingly together with the rest of the Application Development Centre and showing the added value of these products by testing and analyzing them on all relevant application characteristics. Next to that you are the technical interphase between LAPINUS FIBRES and their high knowledge customer base. In this role you are responsible for the set up and execution of joint developments and for supporting the implementation of product- and application development projects into the market. As an experienced networker you continuously develop and maintain your knowledge base and relevant internal and external network. You are able to translate this knowledge, combined with market trends, into new innovative products and friction applications. You are able to quickly prioritize opportunities and you take care of a healthy project portfolio/pipeline, covering the short, medium and long-term growth strategy of the company. You report to the Manager Application Development Centre.

This is what you offer

  • You have a PhD or MS degree with University thinking level, in the field of Material Science;
  • You have 2 – 5 years of experience  in the automotive industry, by preference in the friction area;
  • You are familiar with tribology;
  • You are able to translate customer needs and demands into product specifications;
  • Experienced in  project management;
  • You are a teamplayer;
  • You are able to communicate/give presentations in front of big audience;
  • Written and spoken English Language to a high professional level.

You will be part of the Application Development Centre, a very knowledgeable team of enthusiastic professionals within the LAPINUS organization, based in Roermond. We are working on friction materials applications, which are highly complex and demanding composite products in order to stop passenger cars, commercial vehicles, trains and industrial applications.

For this purpose LAPINUS FIBRES has extensive laboratory capabilities where the production processes of the main applications can be simulated and extensive analysis equipment is present in order to be able to measure the most important properties. Amongst others we have a full scale passenger car dynamometer that is capable of both performance and NVH testing. The unique approach, by offering application knowledge to the customers, has resulted in considerable growth and will be further strengthened.
